The Green Grass Grows

Life has been a blur these past two weeks. I can't exactly remember anything, so I'm going to put events in a random sequence.

The common cold has been going around, and I caught it.

AAU season ended; our record was 7-3, which isn't too bad.

I feel sick after eating Pop Tarts.

Cooper's ear puffed up, so it looks like a balloon now. We have to pop it...gross.

I can't think of any story ideas.

Spaghetti and chocolate milk is all I want.

I have about 37 pairs of shoes.

I grew a quarter of an inch.

Meredith just got here.

I have my future planned out: I'm going to go to vet school, become a world-famous veterinarian, and write several books with my photography in it. And if I'm lucky, I'll get to play basketball in Europe. All four dreams in one job. Then I'll get married to a hot hunk, live in a mansion off of Homer Road, and have three kids. Two girls and one boy. I'll also have a beagle named Pookie.

Nani's funeral was very emotional, yet very comforting knowing that she's in a better place now.

I've gone skiing only once this year.

Justin Bieber turned 17 on March 1st!!!

I bought Pimple Popper for the iPad. That's some intense stuff.

I have a crush on someone...

I want the iPhone 4. So bad.

I just counted. I now have 38 pairs of shoes.

Cooper's getting fat.

I rolled my ankle the other day, so I wear a brace in games.

I dance around when no one is watching.

Meredith is sleeping.

I didn't get a valentine on Valentine's Day:(

Spring is coming; I can't wait.

We have 62 more days of school left.

I had an All-Star basketball game on Friday; we killed 'em. :D

Mom is baking a cake right now.

I have a short temper.

I can't sit still...I think I have A.D.D.

I'm getting braces in two weeks.

I trimmed my hair to get rid of all the split ends I've pulled.

I get to go to Twin Falls for a basketball tournament!

I'm alive and I'm happy.

And that was my long two weeks made short. Thank you.

Being Sick

"I cannot go to school today,"
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken pox
And there's one more--that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut--my eyes are blue--
It might be instamatic flu.
I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke--
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button's caving in,
My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My 'pendix pains each time it rains.
My nose is cold, my toes are numb.
I have a sliver in my thumb.
My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,
I think my hair is falling out.
My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,
There is a hole inside my ear.
I have a hangnail, and my heart is--what?
What's that? What's that you say?
You say today is. . .Saturday?
G'bye, I'm going out to play!"

Yes, I have a horrible cold that will not seem to go away! I've had it for a little more than a week now, and the coughs and runny noses are getting worse. When I breathe in deeply I instantly start to cough because of all the phlegm in my lungs.  In fact, when my sister came to town for her job interview, she and I had a sleepover in the king bed in the guest room, and I coughed almost all night. Finally, Meredith got out of bed at 5 AM and went to sleep in my bedroom for the rest of the night. Soon I left the room with Cooper and ended up falling asleep on the family room couch. It was a rough night.

Last night was just as horrible. It was midnight when I went to bed; I was extremely tired, but I guess watching Intervention all day got to me. I had nightmares, and when I woke up I went into the guest room (which is now her room since she has a job here) to have another sleepover with her.

"What are you doing here?" she asked when I walked into the room. Somehow she had been awake.

"I can't sleep. I had a nightmare," I replied. This is usually my excuse for climbing into someone else's bed, but this time it was true.

Without any hesitation, Meredith let me onto the other half of the wide bed. Whenever a cough suddenly came out, I would hold it in so hard that my face would turn red. Does that kill brain cells or something? Anyway, I finally fell asleep for a few hours until the coughing started again, this time worse. I would accidentally cough into Meredith's face, when I held it in a little peep came out loud enough to wake my innocent sister up. She got really frustrated after about ten minutes of this, but she didn't say anything. Finally I left the room, and now here I am! I actually don't feel that tired, but my coughing is just out of control, and yet my throat isn't even sore. It's just because of all the stuff in my lungs that is sort of clogging up my breathing pipes. I hate sickness!

My mom and I bought some cough drops the other day, and when I put it in my mouth to suck on it, I literally almost barfed. It was a Mixed Berry flavor, and it tasted really gross. I spit it out, and I haven't had another one since. I'll need to get medicine at some point, but for now I'm not really treating my cough much. I also haven't been getting very much rest and, since it's summer, I haven't been eating as many healthy foods as I could. Being a really picky eater, I refuse to eat fruit--applesauce and Trix yogurt is how I get my fruits in. I also only like two vegetables: corn and carrots, and I like the carrots cooked. Yes, that is how picky I am. Anyway, we've been invited to a lot of barbecues lately, so we've been eating a ton of meat. I'm a carnivore at heart. :)

Tonight is one of my two basketball games this week, so hopefully I'll sleep better because I'll be pooped from the game and my mind will hopefully be off of Intervention. Gosh, that show is creepy. It was a marathon yesterday so Meredith and I were sitting on the couch all day watching. I think we'll need an intervention for watching Intervention too much. We're Intervention addicts! They're only on Mondays, though, so thank goodness for that.

Well, lovely people, wish me luck to get well soon; I'll need it. Hope you had an awesome 4th of July, too.

Sick Again?

Yes, I'm sick once again. I have the flu. I've had about four watts of Children's Tylenol. I hate the taste of medicine more than anything else. And, the worst part is, after having a large bowl of chicken noodle soup yesterday, I threw up later that night in the bathroom. I hated it. Brown liquid and noodles everywhere in that yellow bucket. It was dreadful.

So, I had to miss church. :( I really like church. I've learned to like it. But, it is what it is. Some more Tylenol every four hours. My brother Madison stayed home, too, because his wisdom teeth were pulled on Friday, and his cheeks are HUGE! (I learned that if your wisdom teeth grow in straight you don't have to get them pulled. Hooray!)

And so, for the sake of it all, I'm stuck here in this house where Madison Mangum, the famous receiver on the Timberline football team, watches NBA basketball all day while I blog and go on websites. (Madison's officially going to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. How exciting!) Happy Sunday!

Sick for Love

Since Sunday I have had a VERY sore throat. It got worse and worse and today I had to stay home from school. My throat burns and it hurts to swallow. I will be drinking TONS of refreshing Coke and icy water. I need the fluids, people!

I've been coughing, but the coughs never seem to go away. Sometimes I can't even breathe because the coughs come out automatically occasionally.

My friend Courtney came along to the Timberline vs. Boise basketball game yesterday (unfortunately, we didn't win the Wii from the raffle). I saw Blake, and I found out his dad is the assistant coach for Boise's varsity team.

I felt HORRIBLE after the game last night. My throat BURNED, and I had one too many cupcakes at the senior night dinner. Almost threw up in front of everyone.

But now I have Children's Tylenol in my stomach, and I feel refreshed. And I could use some more later today.

One more thing, though. Will I make it to the Valentine's Party tomorrow? Will I feel better tomorrow? Don't know, but we're going to have to take some chances. Sorry if I don't make it tomorrow! This is the worst cold I've ever had (literally).
