30 Days of Blogging

Starting May 2nd, I will be writing short posts daily following the list above. Be prepared to read my blog every day, or you'll have a lot to catch up on. :)

Other news - I got to go to Boise today to visit friends. I left school early, and when I got to school, my awesome secretary let me right on in, and I surprised everyone when I walked in my classroom. Everyone was so excited to see me; they miss me. I miss them, too.

Be ready for the thirty days of blogging! :)

For the Love of Shoes

My fuzzy Airwalks/Converse and my fuzzy slippers

Two pairs of my many Converse

Two pairs of my three pairs of Vans

Like my older sister, Meredith, I have a love for shoes. I think they are the most colorful part of an outfit. They come in many designs, shapes, sizes, and colors.

If I had to tell everyone how much all my shoes were worth, it would probably be at least over $500. It doesn't seem like much, but my mother doesn't necessarily buy shoes for me that often, and I don't know what to buy with my own money. I like to save it instead. I'm probably a human version of Mr. Krabs from Spongebob Squarepants. :)

Just this weekend my brother, Parker, graduated from BYU (pictures to come later). We went to Park City Outlet Mall, and I was impatient to get to a shoe store of some sort. My new school has kids who wear mostly Converse and Vans, and I wanted to look for some. My mother and I ended up finding a Vans Outlet. We came in at the right time, because they were having a 2 for 1 sale. For a good deal, I bought two pairs of awesome shoes (see above).

Shoes are pretty helpful, too. I can't imagine life without them, especially if we don't have more than one pair. I somehow find it annoying when people only wear one pair of shoes all day, every day.

Shoes are an essential in life for me.

The Creation

Genesis 1: King James Version of the Bible

[1] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
[2] And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
[3] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
[4] And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
[5] And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
[6] And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
[7] And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
[8] And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
[9] And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
[10] And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
[11] And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
[12] And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[13] And the evening and the morning were the third day.
[14] And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
[15] And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
[16] And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
[17] And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
[18] And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
[19] And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
[20] And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
[21] And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[22] And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
[23] And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
[24] And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
[25] And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
[27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
[28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
[29] And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
[30] And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
[31] And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Happy Earth Day.
Love,
-Abigail

Anniversary

Today is Truly Abigail: The Blog's 2nd birthday! I can't believe two years ago I wrote a post about my brand new dog, Cooper. I remember when I was nine years old my sister Meredith had created a blog. For my blogging, I had been using Microsoft Word and sharing it with my awesome mother who suffered three minutes of her time listening to my useless entries about Christmas, what I do every day, my favorite foods, etc. Looking back I can tell it wasn't great writing at all. Then Meredith helped me make a blog, and instantly I had my life on the Internet!

As most of you are aware of, my blog used to be called, The Wonderful Adventures of Abby. A year later I changed the name because I was ready for a whole new blogging world. I have had this new name for a year now, which doesn't make it so new anymore.

I plan on keeping up with the blog for a VERY long time. I could be off and married by the time I end Truly Abigail.

Stay tuned.

Do You Remember...

"If you carry your childhood with you, you will never grow older."
-Tom Stoppard
Do you remember when there was never a worry in the world? When your job was to have fun? When drama wasn't a word? When school was never frustrating and difficult? When Earth was just a giant playground? Those are the days of a good childhood.

Being young is probably the greatest feeling. You can do things people older than you can't. You have the ability to do practically everything you want. You have the advantage of not worrying about anything but what you're going to do that day.

There is a downside to being youthful, though: You don't understand what lies in the real world out there. Young ones don't expect unwanted visitors, (Example: murderers) for they don't know those kind of people exist. The strange things they see in their dreams can be frightening to them, like all normality just went bizarre. Sometimes they don't even know that guns are for killing things and people.

With this in mind, parents come in the picture. Toddlers sometimes don't realize that parents are there to protect them from any danger. All they know is that they make their food and keep them company. Even though it doesn't look like a big job for parents, it truly is. Balancing the real world with a curious baby is almost impossible.

And although being young again sounds exciting, being aware of your surroundings (in other words, being older) is extremely helpful.

I make my point.

A Fresh Start

Today was the first day of my new school. At first I felt a little nervous, but with good advice from my friends, and how the students invited me right in, I felt confident. I sit next to some really nice people who know the ropes to the whole school. There was a big downside to coming to the new school.

Hint: "Holy cow! How did you get to be so tall?"

Yes, my height was mistreated today. A lot of the students would just randomly stroll up to me and blurt out, "You're tall." At first I would laugh and say, "Yes, I am!" but soon it got out of control. I was asked the same question over and over: "How tall are you?" Then people started making nicknames. There really is no respect for tall people when you're new. There is a girl who is my height, though, so I don't feel alone. I just hated getting attention only because of my height. Couldn't you be attentive of me with something better? That's just the way it is. Once the people get to know me, I will hopefully be respected.

There are two separate buildings. One is on top of a hill, so we have to climb a long flight of stairs to reach our destination. That is where the cafeteria, computer lab, library, and office is located. I am guessing we will be up there a lot.

Then there's recess. There is a group (or should I say clique?) of boys who are offered money to ask a girl "out". Personally I don't think of it as dating, but I don't think I would want to "go out" with boys like them. They wear black all the time, they act as if they're the coolest group of people in the school, and when they ask a girl "out", they go and ask another one the next day. Pfft, desperate people, I would think to myself. So, there are also annoying people.

The bus ride home wasn't very pleasant. First of all, I absolutely despise riding on buses, and second, I was made fun of yet again. Third, there are no fifth graders except for one of the members of the "oh-we-think-we're-so-cool" boy clique. So, it is a little kindergarten - 4th grader ride home. Fourth, if I grew a centimeter my head would literally be touching the ceiling of the bus. It is so crazy! It hurts to be tall, but I love it. Some people would just kill to be tall. I'm going to say that to anyone who says I'm tall: "Oh, you just wish you had my height." :) It's good to be tall, even if people don't realize it.

So, it wasn't necessarily a successful day. As people get to know me, though, I will (hopefully) be more respected.

Here it Comes

Well, today marks the Saturday before I start a new school. It is approaching so fast, I can't even believe it. What happened to the slow days? Since when were fast days so common? To me, life seems to fly by you like a jet.

This Spring Break has been a fun one. Monday I didn't do much, but on Tuesday I got to meet a new friend here in Eagle. Her name is Allie Callister, and she is really nice. I enjoyed going over to her house. We played Wii Sports, dyed Easter eggs, went to the church to just run freely, and we played a classic with Allie's older sister, Courtney, and her friends: Apples to Apples. We played for at least an hour, and then we headed on out to the backyard. It's a huge property with lots of land.

Wednesday was Mother/Daughter day. Along with my brother Tanner, we went to the mall and bought some new church skirts for me from the amazing Downeast Basics, and Tanner got some sweet new shoes from Finish Line. After that we picked up one of my best friends named Journey and went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D! We all noticed that the movie relates a ton to the gospel.

  1. The Red Queen is like Satan and the White Queen is like Heavenly Father.
  2. Satan was the older brother of the two, and the Red Queen was the older sister of the two.
  3. The Madhatter is like Jesus because he sacrificed for Alice, just like Jesus sacrificed for us.
  4. Alice represents us.
  5. The disappearing cat is like the Holy Ghost; he is wise and you can't see him.
  6. It was a pretty dang good movie. :)

It was very fun to watch. Then Journey spent the night at my house, and the next day we dropped Journey off at her house, and then went to Sun Valley! We went skiing all day, and then we had a snowy ride home. At least five people slid off the road because of the conditions. We were lucky we didn't slide off.

Today we are watching General Conference; you can watch it on http://www.lds.org/. Hope you had an awesome Spring Break!
